The Employer Nomination Scheme visa (Subclass 186) lets skilled workers who are nominated by their employer to live and work in Australia. It is a permanent visa.
To apply for subclass 186 visa, you must be nominated by an Australian employer before applying for this visa.
The visa cannot be granted if:
the nomination is withdrawn, or
the position is no longer available.
There are three streams available under this visa:
Direct Entry Stream
Labour Agreement Stream
Temporary Residence Transition Stream
The Direct Entry Stream allows you to apply for permanent residence directly. The Temporary Residence Transition Stream allows you to transition to the subclass 186 visa after working for your employer while holding a subclass 482 visa.
This visa lets skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer, live and work in Australia permanently.
With this visa you can
live, work and study in Australia indefinitely;
sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia;
apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible.
How long you can stay
This is a permanent visa. It lets you stay indefinitely in Australia.
